Inspirational Glass Kitchens for the adventurous and the enlightened.
My kitchen pods are a complete break with tradition using the same design criteria as that detailed for my bathroom pods.
...some of the country's most expensive handmade traditional kitchens
I have, for my sins, built some of the country's most expensive handmade traditional kitchens for the country's wealthiest clientele. All the time realising that what I was doing was quite incongruous in terms of design, functionality and aesthetics.
...just why kitchen designers insist on creating storage cupboards that are square boxes
I have never understood (well in fact I do know but I will explain later) just why kitchen designers insist on creating storage cupboards that are square boxes, either too high to reach safely or so low, one has to get on one's knees to access.
I am of course aware that more recently manufacturers have started to provide pull-out bottom cupboards, a feature I deployed in my handmade kitchens a quarter of a century ago.
...room full of impracticable square boxes
It does not detract from the fact that they lack the courage or the commitment to start with a clean sheet and examine the basic requirements. Should they do so, they would likely recognise that a room full of impracticable square boxes to accommodate what are mainly round items, is not an appropriate solution.
I recognise that those visitors to my website that desire a 'country style kitchen' as a particular statement in their houses must seek a solution elsewhere.
A kitchen capable of sending a shiver of excitement down your spine
However, for those readers that hanker after a kitchen that is functional, low maintenance, visually and sensually exciting to work in. A kitchen capable of sending a shiver of excitement down your spine every time you turn the corner. Then one of my kitchen pods may be exactly what you have been searching for, yet did not necessarily know existed.
Plans and imagery of my range of kitchen pods will soon be available. If readers want to know more meanwhile, they should not hesitate to contact me.
Note!
I promised to explain why your home is full of sharp aggressive and often impracticable variants on the square box. It all revolves around the worldwide manufacturing base, that for ease and thus cheapness uses flat sheets of either, chipboard, OSB (orientated strandboard). MDF (medium density fibreboard) or plywood. One only has to visit a trade exhibition for furniture manufacturers and it will be understood what I mean. It is too expensive and risky for any large manufacturer to stick their neck out and break with tradition, even if they had the desire or the expertise to do so and I am not convinced they have either qualities. So instead, they just keep tinkering, producing yet even more variants on the basic box.
If you have an innate desire to break with tradition and be truly inspired by a pureSilica glass kitchen, please do not hesitate to contact Christopher for further information and I will endeavour to reply to your request by return.
Please email Christopher to discuss your requirements
