'Like the curled leaves of some giant transparent plant.'

"...beckoning you through to the next area."

Each space must be complete within itself, often with no need for dividing doors. The shape and positioning of the elements providing the necessary privacy, yet at the same time beckoning you through to the next area.

"...curved wall surfaces entice you to touch."

The curved wall surfaces entice you to touch. You simply cannot resist. The texture or smoothness of each surface under the touch of your finger tips awakens your inner senses. They tease and caress emotions that have often been locked away since early childhood.

"Walls are not meant to excite through touch,"

Homes are not meant to be like this. Walls are not meant to excite through touch, they were simply a place to hang the family heirloom or snapshots of earlier memories. To hang wallpaper that one tired of after a month and secretly loathed after three. They are not usually alive, in harmony with the house and its occupants, like the curled leaves of some giant transparent plant.

"...threaten the soft subcutaneous tissue of the female of our species."

I mentioned, in the introduction to this website, of the desire to create an environment free of sharp aggressive elements that normally threaten the soft subcutaneous tissue of the female of our species. No sharp comers on which to stub your bare feet. No projecting knobs to catch ones clothing, strike one's elbow or bruise one's thigh.

"Their obsession is for huge living spaces."

Conversely, there seems an innate desire, especially among the male of our species, to ignore these issues. Their obsession is for huge living spaces. Kitchen work surfaces long enough to surround a football pitch. They also pervade us with imagery of modern spaces that are stark, cold, clinical and soulless.

"...we are a country littered with estates of mock Tudor houses."

No wonder we are a country littered with estates of mock Tudor houses. Each decked out with Laura Ashley wall paper, MDF dado rails and mock oak kitchen cupboard doors on chipboard carcasses. All set within a backdrop of characterless open plan gardens.

"...my home must be a simple effortless structure,"

Whilst, my home must be a simple effortless structure, I do not wish to feel like a lone knight perched on an otherwise empty chessboard. I want to feel cosseted, cocooned in soft linen and silk and to be able to feast my eyes on sharp crisp cotton. I want the practicality of honed limestone, solid, textured limed oak flooring and the luxury of pure wool carpeting.

"...set within the purity of a Mies Van der Rohe style glass pavilion."

A hybrid, with the cosiness of the sitting room of a comfortable country house or cottage, set within the purity of a Mies Van der Rohe style glass pavilion.

"I want sheers and soft drapes,"

I want sheers and soft drapes to visually protect me at night, which appear as if from nowhere. Running effortlessly on near invisible tracks, programmable along with other elements from my mobile phone.

Finally, I want a home that is at one with me and the environment.

"...a world that is both sustainable and enjoyable."

I recognise that by necessity I have to compromise, as we all must if 'your' grandchildren are to inherit a world that is both sustainable and enjoyable.

As a society we have at last become of age and we are slowly beginning to recognise that we have responsibilities.

"...consideration for our planet."

We cannot simply continue to behave like spoilt children, continually demanding ever more without any recognition of, or consideration for our planet.

I cannot truthfully profess to have developed the perfect housing solution, for based on progress over the last thousand years, I doubt if we will achieve it in our lifetime.

"...to achieve a joyous, sensuous way of life,"

I do believe quite strongly however, that I can help those few that empathise with my philosophy to achieve a joyous, sensuous way of life, hitherto unobtainable, wherever you might reside in the world.

A life that does not by necessity have such a deleterious impact on our planet.
